There literally hasn't been one day since starting at UHA that I haven't wanted to transfer. Seriously.
One of the most important aspects of being a freshman in college is of course learning to live with complete strangers. But if you insist on applying to UHA and want to live on campus, I want you to keep this one thing in mind; the Residential Life staff members are not your friends, they don't care about you. You will hate your roommate and/or someone that lives on your floor. A lot. And there's a 99% chance that ResLife will set you up that way on purpose. Complaing to them never works for anyone. Everything on campus breaks. EVERYTHING. And no one cares, ever. Your toilet(s) will clog, your light bulbs will burn out, and your heat will not work. And you're going to have to live with it. Speaking of which, some dorms don't have air conditioning, so stock up on fans because surprisingly Connecticut gets hot as all hell in the summer. I haven't even started the second semester of my sophomore year, but I have already had 3 seperate majors. Hartford will take anything that you're passionate about and ruin your love for it, while taking your $30,000/yr checks. So far the only things that I have learned are how to pack bowls, roll joints, and play beer pong; and I don't smoke marijuana or drink alcohol. If you're looking for a quick way to kill all of your brain cells, please, by all means apply to UHA. You'll have the time of your life. But if you're actually looking to get a decent education, don't apply to the University of Hartford.

“Maybe it's just me, but the general majorityBright
Maybe it's just me, but the general majority of Hartt School performance majors is self-obsessed and over-zealous. From my experiences, the performance aspect of the school is rather lackluster despite its allegedly-wonderful reputation. I decided to attend the school based on said reputation and what a mistake that was! I'm thoroughly disgusted with the rampant favoritism and overall politics of certain majors. Hartt has utterly sickened me with something that I once thought to be my passion. Take my advice: if you love music, don't seek to pursue it in school... unless you're really good at sucking up as a means to climb the professional food chain. In that case, Hartt's your best bet!

This school lies to you completely. I'm so disappointed with the University of Hartford. It is a horrible school. The facilities are terrible. The campus looks ugly. The theatre program at the Hartt School is really not very good at all. We get three actual acting courses. Each one lasts about an hour. That is NOT ENOUGH to compete with the other theatre students studying at Juilliard, NYU, and other conservatory programs. People here need to wake up from the idea that they are going to a great acting school. I am already transferring after my first semester here. I've participated in summer conservatory acting programs and they have been more challenging than four months here. Basically, choose another school if you're looking for a good acting school.
