Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I was skeptical about coming to this university--Quite BrightCommunications
I was skeptical about coming to this university-- my scruples have been verified.
The University is a joke as a whole, but if you look at the individual schools, it's a different story. I know the Hartt School of Music and Performing Arts is incredible and one of the top schools of country.

The Barney School of Business and the Art school are also very good schools.
The College of Arts and Sciences is a good program with a few bad apples...the bad apples being the students...I, personally, and along with a good bunch of my peers are communications majors. However, from what I see, they don't take their work seriously.

This school is a party school. Due to the atrocious lack of off campus activities, students pass the time either by getting drunk or doing drugs. Pot being the most common drug of choice. You smell pot and/or nicotine wherever you go on campus. So many people here smoke. It's quite alarming.

And then, there's Hillyer. Basically a money pot for kids who, for whatever reason, can't get into any other college, but mom and dad have the $$$ for it, so they get accepted. My next door dormmate got a "high GPA" in Hillyer but he was incredibly *dumb*.

Anyway, if you value the worth of your education, don't come here. If you want a party school with easy courses, a homogenous population, and a downright ugly looking campus, then hey, this is your place.

Question
This school is completely what you make it.Quite BrightCommunications
This school is completely what you make it. If you are a music or art major then this place is perfect for you. I know it has a great program for that. As for everything else, if you are going here for anything other than music you should know what type of school this is. It's no Harvard, but you can still get a decent education or else you wouldn't be paying all that money. If you WANT to meet people and have a good time while you are at college than I can guarantee you will. I just finished my freshmen year and I already made friendships that will last a lifetime. The food is not all that great, but it's college, dont expect much. Parties can be alright, and if theres one thing that everyone looks forward to every year its spring fling. It's the last weekend before finals and everyone goes nuts if you know what I mean. This will probably be the funnest time you have all year. Seriously, if you want to come here then do it. I had fun, and it was everything I had hoped my freshmen year would be.420

Question
This school tries hard to impress visitors whileQuite BrightArt & Design Department
This school tries hard to impress visitors while the spring buds are out, but most of it is false and phony. I wanted to transfer after freshman year because once I got there, the dorm scene was all about drugs and very very boring. There was nothing to do and campus is not connected to anything based in real life. I ended up staying because they had a good study abroad program. In the end, the department was good and I did well with academics but the overall school experience was lousy and just plain boring. I was happy to graduate and move as far away from hartford as possible.
