Queen's University (Canada)

This university is only for rich white kids and white professors. There is no diversity in education or in faculty recruitments. I found the non-white graduate students more knowledgeable than professors, and some have longer teaching experience than some professors. However, most of the professors are great. But they are hypocrites. They do not hire people of color but talk about diversity all the time.

Queen's is university that lacks much culture and diversity, so if you are looking for a well rounded and international experience, this probably is not the place for you. When I was choosing to attend queens, I looked at many reviews and thought that the university would broaden my horizons and that the social life would be unbeatable, however when I got there I found that much of the "social life" mostly involves going to frat houses on the weekends and perhaps the same 2 clubs in the "city". So if you are looking to gain independence and discover yourself and your interests, you probably won't enjoy queens as there is not much opportunity to explore. Finally, if you are caucasian, its possible to feel alienated as the majority of the population at Queens is white, despite the promotion of an international student body (600 of 15,000 students were international when I attended). I felt that many of the students at queens had not been exposed to other cultures and diversities and were rather closed-minded in this aspect.

If you are thinking about pursuing the distance education option for psychology, I strongly urge you NOT TO.

The assignment expectations are NOT clearly articulated. The TA's act like you're an inconvenience. They grade EXTREMELY harshly (almost like they're told to keep averages below 70% so you can't transfer out).

Aside from releasing "weekly video's," the professor's involvement is a complete joke and almost non-existent. Seriously, do NOT waste your money "attending" this program. It is designed to keep you in the online campus. They only want your money and could care less. Most universities release lecture videos online for free, and even with you being a paying student, you have no access to lectures. It's a waste of time. The prof is lazy, the TAs are useless and grumpy, and give unhelpful feedback when you ask for it. The staff is incompetent and unhelpful, and the assignments are designed so you fail. There is very little instruction provided. Complete joke. BUYER BEWARE.
