Queen's Unversity provided an excellent and thoroughly enlightening undergraduate experience. My program, Global Development Studies, is a strong and unique program which offers a different perspective on world issues, and it provides students with the skills to continue to a wide variety of career choices. I was extremely satisfied with nearly all aspects of acadaemia, student life, international opportunities, and extracurricular involvement. If I had to name one weakness, it would be a sometimes faltering administrative organization, as admin can sometimes prove difficult to navigate. That being said, my experiences at a number of other universities has taught me that this seems to be the case across the board. The university should also focus on directing its resources to providing a wider availability of courses, as several courses which I had planned to take were removed the year I could enrol. In summation, Queen's gave me some of the best years of my life, I made lifelong friends, have incomparable memories, and I leave with the tools to succeed in either the working world, or continued studies.

I am a Canadian who had lived the majority of my life outside of Canada. Queen's University had an amazing PR group that truly convinced that Queen's was undoubtedly the right place to go. After visiting the campus during the summer,I was taken by Queen's and absolutely loved the campus.
Don't get sucked into this.If you are someone who has done a lot of traveling, and been exposed to people from all over the world I am not sure if Queen's is the right place to go. Although the students are very friendly, they are very very closed minded and are only Ontario focused. Queen's reputation of being a rich waspy school in the middle of nowhere is DEFINITELY true. That is not to say that if you are that kind of person that Queen's is not the right school for you. All I am saying is that Queen's lacks any sort of international feel to it, and is one dimensional.
Despite the fact that Queen's has a high ranking in Canada, the student service facilities are terrible. The food is appalling, the residences are very disgusting and the buildings are getting old despite paying such a high student service fee. Also, at Queen's it wasn't uncommon to have class sizes of 1000+ thanks to budget cuts.
If you are NOT from Ontario, I would not recommend going to Queen's. The city of Kingston itself is very very small and close minded and there is really nothing to do here. Also, in order to get to an airport you have to spend over a 100 bucks to travel to either montreal, or toronto to fly out. I made the decision to transfer to UBC and all I can say is that it was the best choice I ever made. It love it here.
