Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I can appreciate MIU for what it is,Quite BrightOther
I can appreciate MIU for what it is, but my experiences and observations here makes me not want to recommend this place to others. If you want quality school with quality students who will challenge you to become better than what you are, look for a different school. Students don't put much effort into their work, so there is very little competition if any. The library hours is inconvenient, and many students complain about wasting money on a course where the professor doesn't show up for every other class. Things get stolen quite often. School wastes money on useless things like installing a huge LCD monitor that covers an entire wall in the entryway instead of maybe extending library hours and updating much needed software in the labs. I could go on and on... There are positive things, but far too many negative things stand out.

Question
I recall IFAC years ago.Art & Design Department
I recall IFAC years ago. This school that I find it hard to call a college was and could still be a joke. It was so bad. It is for the students that has no real direction in life and dreaming about what the college can offer and hope to make it big. That is not true. Being in one building and moving class to class is just like we were in a highschool. No real brain power need, just read take test and you will pass. Also, I remember taking a history of art class. All of the test were true/ false. Turned out 99% of the answers was always true. I never studied knowing this. Also, I never gave the school my high school transcript. Yep, that's right. Things slide by. The dean. His name was Dean Stack. He was strange. He taught a class on interviewing. He would call us little numbers and always had to have a soft drink in his hand. Thinking back I am sure the little numbers was part of his great pay check. Also a councilor named Mr. Grindstead was mean. Since I had no transportation and walked if I could not get a ride, I carried a lot of heavy books on certain days. There was one heavy book that I did not put in my book bag and I put it down so I could rest. I went to class and realized I left my book. After the class I came looking for my book and Mr. Grindstead saw me outside his office looking. He called me over and said " are you looking for your book". He then showed me and said "I should charge you money. " He was fired later over stealing money I think. Also, as you can tell the school is so small the whole staff knows who you are. There was Charlene Pardons. She was nice and taught a fashion class that was useless. The sweetest one working there in the front office was Mari ve. The dorm life was terrible. The dorm was stuck at the end of a street on a stinky biscayne bay. We had to pass crack homes to get to the dorm. The school had the boys from the other dorm escort the girls to class since it was not safe to walk. I would always think that these boys are not trained and I could protect myself with or without them. There were times I had to walk by myself. I would tell my parents and they would say to hang in there. Later I found out that the school sent out letters to tell parents to say that since the school and the living area is so bad and that we are young and need to learn to survive. Also all the school cared about was making money. Do not go here!
