Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I feel this school was untruthful of whatDesign Arts - Industrial Design/Graphic Design/etc
I feel this school was untruthful of what they offered. I had a good experience there because I made it work for me. Not to say that I didn't have a lot of challenges. While i was there I had many run ins at the dorms with the house mother or what ever she called herself. Awful lady. Had issues with the Financial Aid dept.if that is what you want to call it is was like a closet always a mess and no one seemed to really know what was going on. I think there was really only two teachers that i really ever learned something from. The rest were there to let you know how good they were and how lucky we were they were teaching us. One teacher even required us to buy is book that he wrote what a joke. 2 of my friends were mugged on the way to school and ended up in the hospital. i saw my share of lots of drugs, prostitutes and other scary things. I realized very quickly that my education was very lacking. The fact that i had a degree got me a interview but I really learned how to design from actually working in the field and having real professions teach me. I have to say the students going to AI of fort lauderdale at the same time as us were getting a even worse education we would compare notes we were happy at the time for our choice. Unless you were talking about the dorms nobody liked that place. I can't speak about either school today when I graduated I left and never looked back. i did meet some really good students and people i would still call friends today that was one plus.

Question
After reading these reviews, oh, it brings backNot so bright
After reading these reviews, oh, it brings back so many memories...horrible ones. IFAC is a joke. Don't waste your life or money.

I had some interesting experiences there. I attended IFAC in 2001 and the area had a lot of crime.

I saw a police chase end in front of our dorm with 1 man vs. a lot of cops, guns drawn. I saw a man get hacked with a machete, while I was eating breakfast in McDonalds. I saw LOTS of drugs and prostitutes. I saw pornos being filmed (3 buildings down from the dorm, there was a building where they were filmed). I was tipped when my suspicions were confirmed with the nurse in high heels walking down the sidewalk. I even almost got kicked out for defending myself in a fight against a drunk guy.

One night, I was told by friends that there was a group of people kneeling next to my car (in the guarded parking lot) with lighters looking at my car. I went down and asked the guy what he was doing and long story short he started swinging at me, so I swung back and hit him in the head once. The fight ended with him telling me that he killed better MF'ers than me, he got in his car, recked into the car behind him and drove off. I filed a police report when they showed up.

Well, the security guard at our dorm happened to be friends with the group and told the dean that I started the fight and punched the guy first. The dean called me in to her office (I thought she was going to apologized that this happened to me) and she told me I had 24 hours to get my sh*t and get out. I am from PA. How the hell am I going to pack up and leave in 24 hours? She only let me stay after my dad flew down and talked to her (I think she had the hots for my dad).

Other than that great experience, I was grounded numerous times for having people in my room past 11. For the "grounding", on the weekend of their choice, you have to get up at 8am, take the elevator downstairs and sign a sheet of paper. Then again at 9...then 10 and every other hour of the day! Makes sleeping kind of difficult.

I left for a summer, experienced life outside of a concentration camp and never went back. They even had my dorm payment in full for the following year and never returned it to me.

Nice administration.
What a joke...and by the way, this feels great to finally get some revenge.
Just as a note, I had some very nice, inspiring and helpful teachers there.
Regards,
Seth
