DO NOT LIVE IN THE DORMS. There is nothing but drugs and blacks hitting on you constantly. I never really felt safe at night and regret ever attending this school. Mason City does not cater to the college life. Pick any other school, but this one.

2nd Year Female -- Class 2006

I have transferred to niacc in order to finish the classes needed for a criminal justice degree, definately not the smartest move because the so called teachers are the worst i've encounterd yet. they teach things that have and can be deemed as racial disharmony and have the nerve to get upset when students question their sources. most of these so called educators and staff members are only there to get a paycheck but don't want to do their jobs. i actually had a councelor tell me that he didn't have time to look over and change my class schedule but he has time to go to the bank and spend the money that i and other students have paid the school who in turn pays him. many of the councelors have no idea about the classes we need in order to graduate so we the students end up paying more money to the school for mistakes made by incompitent jack holes who make it hard for the very few good teachers who deserve to be respected. for the people out there who are thinking of coming to college in order to gain essential information for a degree, niacc is not the place. you would be better off learning from Sesame Street because the school and the staff are filled with immature children. if the president of the school did her job then maybe the underlings would follow.

NIACC is a good two year school to go to get your Gen-Ed?s out of the way. The councilors are good but not great the majority try to help their students but there are a few that do not seem to what they are doing. The classes are challenging and the faculty is helpful and wants you to achieve your full potential.

The campus look good the facility support does a good job of making the grounds look good. The layout of the campus is ok if you don't mind walking out in the open above a frozen pond in the winter when it's thirty below zero. The dorms are way too small you would have more space in a prison cell. If you are from north central Iowa I recommend that you live at home. If you're coming from far away get an apartment in Mason City. NIACC does not fix anything in the dorms and there is no color what so ever all you see is the ugly poop brown brick. The food ok not great the food court is better than the dorm's dinning. But the food court closes and one thirty on one depending on the day.

If you are not from northern Iowa be ready for a culture shock. NIACC is out in the middle of a corn field on the east side of Mason City. If you need to get something from Wal-Mart or Target you have to drive trough Mason City which could take anywhere from twenty to thirty min. Mason does not do anything to cater to the college the only thing to do are to go to the movies or the mall which has very few cool stores.. NIACC has no social life everyone that can either goes to UNI ISU or the U of I to party on the weekends or they go home.
