WPI's curriculum of Theory and Practice is stillComputer Engineering
WPI's curriculum of Theory and Practice is still unique in its field, and is the best aspect of the University. No where else can you gain a unique perspective on the impact of technology on society. Their education with industry options are fantastic, and the opportunities to do industry sponsored projects as part of the Major qualifying Project (MQP) are second to none. Also, WPI has the best music program for any engineering school in the US - period.

Academics are pretty good, but there are aQuite BrightUndecided
Academics are pretty good, but there are a lot of foreign professors who are hard to understand.
WPI's social life revolves around frats and drinking, so If you aren't into that kind of stuff, I wouldn't come here. As for things to do off campus, there really is not much to do in Worcester, so the best bet is to go into Boston.

The male/female ratio here is really off (something to the extent of 75% male 25% female), so guys, if you want to meet/hook up with a lot of girls in college, this is not the place. Girls, if you want to meet lots of frat guys and some other "interesting" types of guys, you may like it here. If you're not interested in CS or engineering, I wouldn't recommend coming here.

Question
WPI is a great school for hands on,Super BrilliantElectrical Engineering
WPI is a great school for hands on, project based learning and the #1 leader in global overseas study's of any engineering program (proven fact). Students have opportunities to act as consultants for government's and companies throughout the world, as well as develop their own inovative ideas. The school also engages in frequent joint research with other schools in MA, such as UMASS and MIT. The campus is a rose between two thorns: very well maintained, very nice buildings and grounds, in the middle of a very distressed area. It's a tough curriculum, some majors being SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult than others, but a very cooperative atmosphere exists within one's major in that people work together well, rather than compete. Successfull students are hardworkers, many of whom can be found pulling frequent all-nighters (especialy in the electrical and computer science departments). The cost of attendance is pretty steep as well at $40k/year (more if one takes a summer term), but should be well worth it's cost provided the job market improves.
