Minnesota State University - Mankato

I have attended three different universities, and obtained both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The universities that I attended were in Minnesota and Texas.

I very much enjoyed the Mankato campus and the quality of education that I received.
I am from a major metropolitan area and thoroughly enjoyed the campus, and the geographical area. I found the student body and the professors to be very engaging. While at Mankato I made lasting friendships that I enjoy today.

The campus is more user friendly today than when I attended. I believe that it was/is a good value. It does blend rural and urban views and that is a positive.

3rd Year Male -- Class 1982

Education Quality: A, Faculty Accessibility: F

MSU was a great experience. Any college, no matter where, is largely what you make of it. There are opportunities for those who seek them out, and that's why this size school was a good fit for me. I had friends from both the city and from rural areas, and they all got something different from MSU. If you want 24-hour movie theatres, a march every other day for every cause under the sun, and a jumping nightlife, then you'd better stay in an urban center and go to a university of about 40,000 or more. If you're content with a good degree from a respectable university, it's a good fit. You can find things to do or people to hang with. Most everyone I met, faculty or administration, was willing to help if you asked for it. The few who weren't, well you could just avoid their classes or ask to have them changed if they were your advisor. (And as for the long drama about the Student Affairs dean that another person posted... about 1/2 the information in that story is wrong, so be aware of that before making your own judgment.)

4th Year Female -- Class 1998

Education Quality: A, Collaboration/Competitive: C

I am a frat boy and have been going to MSU for about 5 years now and I do enjoy the occasional gay bash and intercultural beating (just kidding). Mankato is a great place if you like to party a lot and slack off on your studies. I have noticed no snotty or rude people there but usually I am pretty oblivious to my surroundings. The girls are a bunch of sluts so thats always nice.
