I went to aPolitical Science
I went to a state college because it was what I could afford. It served the purpose of getting me a degree, but not much in the way of opening doors. Go for the best college you can get into, even if you have to borrow to go there.

I graduated 20 years ago, but my impression is that not much has really changed at SUNY-A in terms of demographics -- i.e., the preponderance of stuck up Long Island JAPs. The school's reputation academically seems to have declined somewhat -- back when I went, Binghamton and Albany were neck and neck -- now Albany is decidedly the inferior.

Going to SUNY-A, or ANY SUNY, for that matter, is an exprerience in depersonalization and institutional abuse/neglect. Frankly, you can get this kind of treatment in the Army, and enjoy better housing, food and financial aid for a superior school once you get out.Anyway, college is what you make of it. That sounds like trite bullshit, but it's true. I was so miserable when I was there I turned off and did not enjoy some of the genuine opportunities/activities that were available. So if you're stuck at SUNYA for economic reasons, suck it up and keep an open mind. Oh, and date townie chicks and gals at the nursing school.

This University concetrates on their top majors (bus and crim). So if you are not interested in those field you should go to another school because here you will be disregarded. THe campus is ugly and the students aren't very friendly. As an ex resident assistant I was also able to see how prejudicial residential life could be to many of its students.
