ITT Technical Institute - Strongsville

If you do consider ITT-Tech, do have some sort of background in the field you wish to follow. I have taken the CNS program (computer network systems), and I have been offered a $60k a year middle level job after graduation. Do not expect to walk in "green" and come out two years later a master in your field. They do give you the skills you need, it is up to you to use and learn them.

The subjects they teach are relevant to real world situations. Tips and techniques I have learned I apply on the job constantly.

The program is fast paced, do not expect to show up and mess around. The students who come in, sit on facebook / myspace / text on their phones / sleep are the ones who drop out / say it was a waste / get nothing out of it. For an example, read a certification book for CCNA or CCNP, if you cannot follow the book, or do not care to read it, maybe you should reconsider attending. The teachers I had, who work there full time, are easy to get into contact with after class, and will help you if you ask for it. If you miss a class, and your instructor teaches the same class at a different time, you can ask to sit in and go over what you had missed. I have done that a few times with different instructors; there is always an extra seat.

The school's resources are abundant, you can walk in pretty much any time and do what you have to do. Although the staff in the library are not specific to your field of study, they will help you get the information you need as best as they can.

Their finical aid department does help you get all the funding you need. Yes, it is an expensive school, but with aid and grants, I only ended up paying roughly $12,000 out of a $45,000 program; what is $40 a month to cover student loans?

ITT Tech does recruit aggressively, if they didn't, there would not be any students. Any school not 100% funded by the government will be. If the school does not meet a certain level of new students, the school will not make any money, and cease to be around.

Just remember, whichever school you pick, someone has something to gripe about. Unfortunately, the students who do not apply themselves are quick to point out the negatives over the positives (this applies in virtually any situation). I was extremely hesitant to sign up, but I am glad I did. After trying Tri-C, B&W, Ohio State, I would say ITT Tech courses are more specific to information technology.

By the way, I had a cousin who attended ITT Tech after my recommendation. Later I found out he paid zero attention, didn't show up half the time, and ended up dropping out. Does he slander ITT Tech, saying it was a waste? You bet he does. What it all boils down to, you get what you pay for, and if you are paying for it, you better get what you can out of it. Welcome to the real world, kids.
