I would say that this size school is perfect for me, but not everyone. It is small enough that almost everyone I meet knows at least one of my friends, yet is big enough that I can meet new people all of the time.
I would say that if you do not fit into one group, you are very likely to find other students that you fit in with. Especially if you are willing to join clubs on campus. We have a huge variety of clubs and activities going on all of the time.

I would describe the campus atmosphere as laid back and perhaps a bit preppy, mostly laid back though. I feel that most students are nice (of course there are some exceptions, mostly freshmen that leave).
Most students go to class in t-shirts and jeans, or sweat pants and hang out and drink on weekends. If you do not drink, you can find parties that will not pressure you and there are a decent amount of students who do not go out.

Also, the city is very underrated, even though it is small to medium in size. People who say that the city is boring are the ones who have never gone there. Most students rarely leave the campus bubble. There are things going on all of the time if you are willing to look for them.

Being in UD's art program has its pros and cons. It definitely is geared toward VCD students (graphic design) and has a very good program. Also, there is almost always a teacher or upperclassmen in the building willing to help with a project. The students and teachers in this department are very close.
The cons are, the majority of the students in this program are not very dedicated, especially in the foundations classes. Also, UD does not have the best facilities and students need to buy their own equipment.

I've visited alot of my friends at other Universities, and there is no school that I've been to that even comes close to UD when it comes to friendliness of the students as well as the community as a whole. I encourage you to apply if you are thinking about going, take a visit to campus first too, you'll be drawn in immediately. The only downside is that it costs alot of money.

The University of Dayton is a place where you will develop lifelong friendships. The people you will meet will all be down to Earth, friendly people looking to talk to you. The campus is beautiful, especially during the winter. The "ghetto" is one of the best parts of the university. You can always find something to do on campus if you don't like to drink (because Dayton is one of the biggest party schools in the country). If you are looking for a good education and a good time... come to the University of Dayton
