WSU is not a good choice for graduate nursing degrees. The nursing faculty is inept and led by an unapproachable, arrogant, and out of touch dean. The nursing dept. in general is inundated with disgruntled student complaints that are never addressed. The graduate students are treated with incredible disrespect which borders on academic abuse. Students receive no assistance with clinical placement even though this college claims they will coordinate placement. Grad students receive a very poor education by unqualified instructors who have little experience themselves. The students basically work together and taught each other. The psychiatric NP program is laughable and earning quite a bad reputation with each passing semester. Any program would be better than the one WSU offers for PMHNP. The nursing faculty should be fired and rebuilt from the ground up.

Run don't walk to another university. I say this having received my undergraduate and a masters degree here. I'm now working on a second masters and felt I had to take 3 classes I had already completed in my first masters degree. While the professor I have for my specific degree is very accessible, knowledgeable, and helpful; I feel the school as a whole is unorganized and just out for your money. The Bursar's office couldn't be worse. You are wasting your time if you are trying to get a refund, because conveniently they will not be able to find the record or they make stuff up to keep your money that you have no possible way on earth to fight. Every semester there is administrative nonsense to deal with. Time that could be put toward course work and studying is wasted trying to deal with people who have no idea what they are doing. I can tell you my children will NOT go here. I'd advise anyone else to look elsewhere.

Nurse practitioner students have generally been working as nurses and are therefore returning adult students, not high school grads. But everyone I have encountered has similar complaints about WSU.
On-line means nothing to them..... Beware! You may have labs, exams, and all kinds of scheduled, mandatory trips to campus. If you are military- DO NOT GO HERE! You receive ZERO assistance in finding clinical placement, but a rather large amount of rude, unhelpful remarks. The faculty is remarkably arrogant for such a small school that is unknown anywhere other than Dayton. They do not make anything easy, nor do they see a need to do so.I regret going there for the FNP program and hope to save someone from making the same mistake.
Do not pursue a graduate degree in Economics at this institution. You will be unemployable. More than half the classes are propaganda-filled (stuff you can literally get on your own from the news...and common sense?). Economic theory is hardly covered (shocking for a graduate course) and the level of mathematics and statistics required and used is laughable at best.
Iam doing masters in computer science. i feel department is tooooo tough. Recently they noticed we are not taking hard courses (usually taken by experienced but strict prof)and made these courses compulsory. But if we work hard we can get decent grades.
Grad School is your responsibility and it is what you make of it. Dayton, OH is the sewer of the Midwest, and the month of December averages 36% of total hours with daylight, of which 90% are covered by a massive cloud blanket... Not a good place to live if you are prone to suffer from bouts of depression.

1. They do a good job trying attempting to keep as many students as possible within their programs. That said, this has come at a cost of lowering the standards of the coursework to the point that grad school is kind of a joke. Many classes are co-listed with undergraduate level courses, and honestly, it's not particularly worthy of graduate level work.
2. The faculty and education are fairly out of touch with what's desired out in the real world. This is commonplace but particularly bad at WSU.
3. The university has massive budget problems and a recent immigration/H1-B scandal. This appears to have really lowered people's faith in the institution, and by default, it is lowering the faith people have in the students it provides.
4. Their connections to jobs for graduates essentially revolve around Wright Patterson Air Force Base and a tiny handful of other companies. Just be warned if you do research that's not visible to the contractors that work at the base, your research and work will not transfer to gainful employment or professional connections.
5. If you believe your master's would or should help you build your skills, it probably won't in the IHE department. The reason is that many of the courses are truthfully undergraduate courses, and the people designing the courses are really out of touch.
6. However if you just want a master's degree, they are more than willing to work with you, and there are professors that are willing to take any warm body for a research assistant.
