When I first looked at this school IAverageNursing
When I first looked at this school I looked at this page and almost did not go to DeSales because of it. Now that I went through 4 years I wanted to come back and tell the truth. You will meet your best friends here. Yes everyone knows everyone, but its nice to be cared about by that many people. If you go to a big party school you wont have a group of friends you'll have 1 or 2 people that may help you if your drunk. The school work is hard and its not a big named school but to your professors you are a person not a number and will feel prepared by time you leave this university. The parties are a hit or miss. Some are great some are not, but you will get that at ANY SCHOOL YOU GO TO. Sometimes its just fun to sit in your dorm and get drunk. You're not peer pressured. The parties are there but no one forces you to go. This place becomes home and these friends become family.

Great nursing program in terms of education.Quite BrightNursing
Great nursing program in terms of education. Very poor student body spirit since it's like high school.

Many of my friends (the fun kids) in performing arts are miserable. Kids who can't sing or act get the leads since they are the favorites and "sell tickets" to the local patrons. 30% of the student body in performing arts are gay but they need to be "closeted" since it's not accepted here. Be who you are and be that well is a joke. They are homophobic and not into diversity at all. Just go to one of their plays to see how diverse they are. Not. Most nursing students are miserable. The school is way too expensive for what you get in return. They need to get with the program and offer more clubs and more outlets for diversity. Way behind the times.

DeSales provided me a very interesting experience. Not so brightOther
DeSales provided me a very interesting experience. As far as the education, it is a young school so the resources available are very limited. The quality of the education is very good as you will see through the success in sciences and liberal arts. Socially's a tough crowd. It is a generally white school which students who come from families who are not even close to needing help financially. Through my experience, the students can be very cut-throat. It is alot more like a high school atmosphere with different groups but that is mainly due to its small size. People can talk about you and will talk about you behind your back if you know enough people. It has a sort of "everyone knows everyone and everything" atmosphere to it. If you are out partying and make a few "drunken mistakes", chances are word will spread very quickly. As for the party scene, the desales police has lightened up when it comes to busting parties. As a student, it is very easy to find an on campus party, an off campus party either in a Bethlehem house or a townhouse right off of route 309. Bethlehem also is home to many bars which students who are of age spend Wednesday and Thursday nights at. We also hold our annual Block Party in Bethlehem which is an all day drinking event in the spring. If you don't want to party, watch some movies with your friends in your dorm. If you want to drink and not party, find some friends in a dorm and listen to music and play drinking games. Plain and simple. Easy to go out, easy to stay in. The only thing you have to watch out for is the social atmosphere because it is easy to drown in it. If you can handle a small school, like to party, and want a good education, DeSales is the place for you.
