L
EHIGH
helps people excel by discovering and building unique, personal strengths
in a community where active learning approaches are connected to
real-world applications that include academic research and hands-on experiences, both
in and outside classrooms. · Lehigh is small enough to
be personal, yet large enough to be powerful, combining the
learning opportunities found at larger research universities with the personal
attention of a smaller, private college.
· Students
have easy access to world class faculty who are committed
to teaching and mentoring students.
· A highly ranked national
university with balanced excellence across each of its four colleges.
· You can get involved in experiences inside
and outside the classroom that can help build confidence and
help you to continue to develop as an individual and
a leader. Your time here will help you continue
to grow into a well-rounded individual who succeeds professionally in
whatever area you choose and contribute to our global society.
· Professors are widely respected in their fields and offer
students the personal attention and mentoring to learn and succeed.
· A comprehensive university that offers students an interdisciplinary education
that crosses colleges and fields of study. Strong programs
in business, the humanities, education, arts and sciences, and human
services balance our traditional strength in engineering.
· You'll develop
relationships with professors and colleagues that will help you throughout
your career.
· Rich traditions that are both inspiring and
fun.
· Strong alumni network can be a
valuable asset during your years at Lehigh and beyond.
·11
to 1 student to faculty ratio allows students to work
closely with and gain a high level of individual attention
from professors.
· You can customize your curriculum by
selecting from among 2,000 courses that span four different colleges,
carry a double major, change your major or take course
work across colleges.
· Class 1 research institution with 38
research centers and opportunities to work alongside world-class researchers with
state-of-the art equipment.
· Average undergraduate class size is about
25 students.
· Career counseling and interviews, engaged and involved
student affairs staff available 24/7.
· More than 130 student
clubs and special-interest organizations, 34 fraternities and sororities encourage you
to reach beyond academics and take hold of all that
life offers - whether it's sports, the arts, special interests
or community service.
· More than 100 study abroad
programs in more than 30 countries, exchange programs in seven
countries, and winter and summer faculty-led programs in 10 countries.
· 24 intercollegiate sports for men and women student-athletes; more
than 2,500 students also sign up for intramural sports and
another 1,000 become involved in club programs like ice hockey
and crew, competing against other schools.
Lehigh Earth
Observatory (LEO), operated largely by undergraduates in conjunction with faculty,
research and technical staff, and graduate student mentors, creates opportunities
for students and faculty from all of Lehigh's four colleges
to collaborate in cross-functional, team-based problem-solving.
· Lehigh's Humanities
Center allows students to engage in programs, discussions and events
outside the classroom that expand their appreciation of arts, literature,
philosophy, and religion and offer opportunities to interact with professors
in non-traditional settings.
· Leadership opportunities abound through the
student senate, the Community Outreach by Athletes who Care about
Helping (COACH), Community Fellows program, the Students That Are Ready
(STAR) program, and Community Interaction Day, among others. Last year
alone, Lehigh students logged more than 26,700 hours in voluntary
community service activities.
· Lehigh offers a host of programs
that cross colleges and fields of study including the Integrated
Business and Engineering (IBE) program, Computer Science and Business (CSB)
program, Lehigh Earth Observatory (LEO) and Community Fellows.
·
Ulrich Field, a lighted, dual grass/artificial turf field on Lehigh's
Goodman Campus is a lasting reminder of the distinctive Integrated
Learning Experience programs. Lehigh students “built” the facility from the
ground up, designing the complex, performing cost analyses, and planning
for things like drainage, safety and maintenance.
· In addition
to being able to major in one of the best
engineering programs in the country, Lehigh undergraduates can simultaneously prepare
for an interesting alternative career - as a teacher. Lehigh
offers a combined degree program that leads to a bachelor's
degree from the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied
Science and a master's degree from the College of Education.
The program, also offered to undergraduates in the College of
Arts and Sciences, can be completed in five years -
one year less than what it usually takes to earn
both degrees.
· The arts - visual, performing
and literary - -are core to the Lehigh learning experience
and are integrated throughout, offering students the opportunities to develop
their imaginations and creativity while acquiring skills that will complement
their professional development in whatever field they choose to pursue.
