Moravian College

If you are an academically focused student then you will find yourself to be completely disappointed in your college experience. Moravian gave me the most in scholarships of all the schools I applied to and because I come from a poor family and needed to pay for school I chose to go to Moravian. The student body is not motivated academically at all and I could not peers who were passionate and intelligent. My other friends who got in to better schools found themselves with intellectual peers that could motivate them, I found myself constantly pushing against a very homogeneous upper middle class society of students that were not prepared to encounter ideas that challenged their world views developed in high school. The student body is only mediocre in it's academic capability, it was an absolutely demoralizing experience to attend this school. Moravian's academic quality is like a slightly hard high school.

THE PROFESSORS THEMSELVES WOULD COMPLAIN VOCALLY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE STUDENTS. Regularly the students in class have not read the material but professors hands are tied with grading because the college administration is struggling to maintain the quality of the school so the professors are forced to coddle the students which pretty much turned Moravian into a degree factory. If you are the self-motivated type the professors will invest into you and give you opportunities but the overall atmosphere of this college is absolutely terrible. The school is dominated by athletics and Greek life which means the students can be incredibly preppy and have very narrow inexperienced world views.

This message is to anyone who is a strong student and at the top of their class, do not attend this college. The degree you get is not really worth it. The school has zero name recognition outside of the Lehigh Valley and not enough alumni outside of the Lehigh Valley to really help you professionally once you graduate as well. And for a $40,000 price tag (you have to live on campus) it simply is not a good decision to make.

As an alumni to this school I will never affiliate myself with the institution ever again. I will not donate money to it because it was such a bad academic environment. Go to a larger school with more diversity and where you can find peers that are like minded and passionate about the same things as you.If you're a business major or a sports jock who wants to play D3 sports then this school is for you. In hindsight I totally should have just payed for the better schools, I have received no professional benefits from going to Moravian and I could have been in Philadelphia gaining contacts and real experience the entire time.
