I hate State College but I really likeQuite Bright
I hate State College but I really like Penn State itself. Most of the kids are nice and very helpful. But you have to approah them first. Alot however are rude but that's only because they have no class and therefore do not know any better. Alot of the girls are haters... only in Penn State will you find average looking girls thinking that they look SOOO good. They're basically people who are nothing thinking they're something when they're not.Academicaly the students are not brilliant. Or they must be because it seems as if no one studies but they still manage to pass.

SOCIAL LIFE -
If you want to drink, and you want to go to a college that supports drinking, this is the one to go to. Unfortunately, if you don't go out to parties with people in your first week as a freshman, it will be hard to make friends later because people hook-up pretty quickly. Because I just don't want to drink, I have a hard time assoiciating with others. LOTS of peer pressure to party. If you don't, you're an outcast.

Football here is overrated. The game-day weekends are great, but again, the drinking gets insane. WAY TOO MUCH school spirit all focused on 11 guys on the field. What about the other 40,000 of us?

ACADEMIC -
Electrical engineering is hard, but it is very rewarding. They really make you learn...they know what they're talking about, and you will know what YOU'RE talking about when you complete the course.

BUT - you have to do 98% of the learning ON YOUR OWN. Profs will help you along the way and reinforce the material, but if you don't learn it to begin with, you're screwed.

DON'T WASTE ALL THE MONEY ON TUITION TO SCREW UP. You can EASILY get an apartment in State College and go to all the parties you want WITHOUT being a student. You'll save LOTS of money that way.

STATE COLLEGE -
It is incredible. Just walk Pollock on the first day of classes at noon. It's like Times Square in NYC. Atherton is unbelieveable, especially if you come from the middle of nowhere. Take the time to travel around the vicinity - it really is impressive. If you stay in your room all the time playing video games, you're missing out.

ACTIVITIES - Anything you want, PSU has. If you join something and have the slightest motivation to the group/club, you can work your way up fast. And that looks GREAT on your resume, along with a first-class engineering diploma straight from Penn State - University Park.

In this school you are just a number. The school functions in a way that screws over and takes advantage of its students. I wouldn't recomend going here.
