Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Bob Jones is definitely a unique university.Quite BrightPreMed and Medical
Bob Jones is definitely a unique university. Sometimes you may feel that the administration babies the students somewhat with certain programs and rules, but on the whole the positives far, far outweigh the negatives. The education quality is top notch; the school has recently been approved for accreditation candidacy by TRACS, and from what I understand that basically means that the school is accredited. I was valedictorian of my high school and am a Pre-Med major now; I am constantly pushed and challenged by the course work (a new experience for me, since I didn't have to crack a book in high school). The science faculty is excellent. Sometimes the school is accused of academic inbreeding; I don't know if that is true for other departments, but it is certainly not true for the science faculty. All of the professors have Ph.Ds from other universities. The students are friendly and approachable. I would advise visiting the school before applying to get a feel for the rules. They don't bother me at all for the most part. If it is God's will for you to come here don't hesitate. The university is a good place to grow spiritually as well. Overall, I would give Bob Jones a 9 out of 10.

The school is by no means perfect, but you'll find that it is what it bills itself to be--the best in Christian education.

Question
BJU can be a great school for thosePreLaw and Legal
BJU can be a great school for those whose lifestyle choices are suited to their codes of conduct. I had a difficult time there because I am an independent thinker and am not inclined to withhold my opinion. When I was there, they seemed to favor punishment over mercy and also are very quick to get rid of students who do not appear to fit in. However, one can find great friends there and my experiences with faculty members were fantastic. Faculty members overall view their teaching as a ministry, not a job. Consequently, the inspiration with which they taught is something that I have not found at many other schools (save a few professors here and there). The quality of their academics is very high. Unfortunately, the school's administration and policies is what made me decide to leave. I was not a troublemaker, nor was I blatantly rebellious. However, I was going to be required to go to spiritual counseling once a week as well as meet with a dorm supervisor simply because I did not accept all of their views and was not ashamed of that. While I can say I'm glad I went there because it did help shape who I am today, I can also say I'm glad that I left because I'm not sure I would be who I am today!
