BJU is definitely a different place. I enjoyed my 4 years there because I was too young to know any better. As a young Christian I was looking to the school to help train me in a closer walk with Christ, to learn the great doctrines of the faith and meet lifelong Christian friends. The former was no-existent but the later was met.
My main problem with BJU is that they turned me (not realizing they had) into a Pharisee (i.e. a perfect hypocrite). They teach that if you do not dress right, listen to the correct music, wear the right clothes, speak the right way, have the date you were saved written in your Bible, attend the right church, watch the right movies, consume the right beverages, hang around the right people, then chances are you are not a Christian. BJU is a school of the past. Stuck hopelessly in the 40's and 50's not at all contemporary to the culture we live in. They will eventually just go away, as people like me (A devote follower of Christ) would never let my children attend this school. They are slowing loosing the next generation because they are stuck in the past, more consumed about "not compromising to this generation" than "becoming all things to all people that they may win some".
However, if you are already a fundamentalist and you need more training in your separatist ways than is the Dali Lama of all schools. You will ascend the ranks and be very happy.

Bob Jones is, by far, the worst institution on the face of the Earth. It is not natural for people at the age of 18, 19, 20, or 21, to be abused and mistrusted to the point where one cannot kiss his girlfriend (or risk expulsion) or stay up past bedtime (oh, no!). Boo fucking hoo...this is an extreme right winged prison where brainwashing is cool and ignorance is the law of the land. And guess what...Mr Bush and all his Bob Jones friends will rot in what you refer to as "Hell." Oh, and so you know, my God is perfect and all loving...He does not create evil, therefore, there is NO DEVIL! And contrary to your popular belief, ther is no LAKE OF FIRE! Evil is only created by man. And Angels do not have free will...so there goes your fallen angel Lucifer story. Fuck organized religion. i don't need to tithe and be looked down upon to love God. I certainly don't need to vote Republican (how can 50 million Americans be that stupid?) Furthermore...why don't you ask your Bob Jones faculty what happend to the books of the Bible that were purposely left out! Don't you realize that the 26 versions of the Bible are all ways to brainwash, conform, and control man? God is not judgemental. He is not the fearful being that your Bob Jones, right winged, vengeful bastards make Him out to be. God is Love. He does not create negativity. Also, why is it such a big deal IF Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had children with her? Why can't we accept that Jesus, while a supreme being, was still a man on this Earth...Do you think God would be that cruel to say "I'm sorry, Son, but you cannot experience the love of a woman and have a family with her..." Now how much sense does that make? God is not that cruel. Our only punishment is this life we live now...and we chose it. yes, reincarnation is real. Why would God waste our soul on just one life? we are meant to learn several lessons; and we cannot possibly learn all we need to experience for God in just one lifetime...(Oh, boo hoo, did I offend any of the Bob Jones ass lickers?) Too fuckin bad. Go and seek truth to your lives and drop out of that school and go to a real college where it's ok to experience life.

“BJU was not an accredited school which hurtEducation
BJU was not an accredited school which hurt my options in teaching. I had no desire to just teach in Christian schools but had no choice with a non-accredited education.
I would not recommend BJU because the university does not allow free thinking. The education was superb but their views of the world were rigid and unneccesary. Most of the faculty have never had held a position anywhere else and probably could not teach anywhere else because of their narrow-minds.
It took me years to overcome their brainwashing but I survived and other have too but usually only if they left the area of Greenville, SC. I was in university when Steven Jones was in school. He was a very nice guy so I hope with him at the helm, the university will soften its stance on people and stob being so quick to judge.
