Okay your college experience is going to beQuite BrightAccounting
Okay your college experience is going to be whatever you make out of it. I really like cnu the classes are close and you are allowed to have vistors whenever you want. The only thing i dont like about cnu is that it isnt really diverse alot of people are from northern va so its like they have already form their friends before they even got here and most of them arent open up to have anyone else join. the parties here at cnu is limited. they are basically drink until you fall out. there are a lot of people that have to do community serivices because of that. Another thing i like about cnu is the different programs cab have.. please if you are thinking about coming to cnu join CAB it is an wonderful organization. the room are really big and the community is netrual . you have your main stores around you and the ferguson center have a lot of differrent acts for you.

Question
If you are a prospective student, I wouldBrightAccounting
If you are a prospective student, I would be very cautious about attending CNU. CNU is almost a real life infomercial the way they market its school, and contrary to other schools that are actually good and can let its reputation speak for itself, CNU raves about amazing things at the school when its just not true. Its no surprise that huge amount of students transfer out of CNU each year, its because CNU is nothing like its advertised.

CNU students are basically apathetic and have no school spirit. This is because most students go here because it is their safety school and they didnt get in anywhere else. This is also evident on the weekends when tons of people pack up and leave. CNU is pretty boring on weekends so people go home or to other colleges where you can actually have fun.

CNU is a dry campus, and their university police (read: Rent-a-cop police) are on powertrips, and love to get students busted. CNU makes second year students live ON CAMPUS, which is stupid, especially because my friends at other schools can live off campus. This is probably because CNU loves to bust people, and their dry campus rules apply to sophomores who must live on campus.

Its pretty simple, CNU is an average school. Its not nearly as good as the major universities in Virginia, and it would not be wise to choose CNU over better schools in Virginia. CNU has no reputation academically, and there isnt much going on socially. I made a mistake by going here one year too much, and I am transferring as a junior to JMU next year, which isnt very uncommon as I bet a lot of students are filling out transfer forms right now.

Question
Christopher Newport University is a dry campus whichQuite BrightAccounting
Christopher Newport University is a dry campus which is fine especially if you are looking for a school as such. The problem with the university is that if they do catch you with alcohol underage or not you are put on disiplinary probation and made to do community service work. If you are underage the CNU police inform the Newport News Police and you are sent to jail and then have to go to court. Even this would not be so bad if it wasnt for the fact that CNU police and RA's are constantly looking for these things. Police circle building waiting for a trip honestly the school crosses the line between a safe environment and harrassment to point. The fire marshall was sent to a frat house for the safety check snooping around he found a case a beer in the fridge everyone who lived in the frat house was kicked out of school. My boyfriend was 21 years old when the RA found a bottle of liqour in the room and he now has to perform 50 hours of community service with supervisors who treat him as if he were actually a criminal. The university has now built a bar on campus....which is puzzling to me as well....it turns out that CNU police will be stationed at the door and that if anyone tries to leave intoxicated they will be charged. O yea and the president of CNU Paul TRibble has a mini bar in his office.....sort of hypocritical. And have fun getting into graduate school with any kind of charge on your record from newport news. Even off campus is not safe from harrassment a group of people from CNU were having a party off campus the CNU police came and held everyone there while they called the newport news police granted the kids should have known that the CNU police had no jurisdiction but i mean really. Kids are stopped maybe for speeding or normal traffic violation and then the CNU police proceed to find any reason to search their car. It's unreasonable if you are of age not to be able to have a beer while watching a football game, its ok for the city of newport news but apparently not for paul tribble. o yea and here's his reasoning....his dropout son was in northern va at college and he said when he went to visit him he had to step over beer cans and bottles...so i guess his own son ruined it for everyone. If you're looking for a fun atmosphere at college do not come to CNU unless your looking for lots of ice cream socials and harrassment this isnt the place for you.
