Date: Dec 31 1969 Major: Music Education (This Major's Salary over time) I think the gen-ed program at JMU is less than desirable. To add a positive to the negative, I believe it will provide me with a fairly good liberal arts background, but on the whole I think it's a waste of time. My major (music) is time consuming enough without having to worry about extraneous math, science and history classes, where all the teachers feel that their class is the most important one you're taking. Occasionally you'll find a teacher who realizes that people are only taking their class because they have to, and the class is structured accordingly. Others feel that you must be taking the class because you love the subject and need to do as much work as possible. If it weren't for gen-eds I could probably graduate in four years. As it is I will probably be here for 5 maybe 6.
