CSUMB is small and new. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. Small size can mean limited class selection and limited party potential, but it can also mean small class size and your professors recognise you and know your name. As a new school CSUMB experiences growing pains wich can be problematic. At the same time there is alot of room for students to shape the university as it grows. If you are inclined to activism this could be a good place to practice it.It is important to understand a few things about the campus. 1) CSUMB is on a decomissioned (read: abandoned) military base. There are boarded up buildings everywhere. The university buildings have all been built or renovated since 1994. THERE IS NO IVY OR OLD BRICK HERE.2) Though we are on the California coast this is Northern California. There is weather here- fog, rain, overcast in adition to the sun. THERE ARE NO PLAM TREES HERE. (I do overhear plenty of discussions about surfing between students and one of my professors)
