KU is a great place and Lawrence is an awesome town. There are perks and there are other aspects of Kansas/KU life that aren't so great. I love Lawrence because it's a liberal bastion in a sea of Republicanism. The city is student-friendly. Decent housing is cheap and abundant. The atmosphere is good; there are always lots of options and interesting things to see and do. The weather keeps you on your toes though and campus is huge and HILLY. Be prepared to spend a significant amount of time walking uphill in the pouring rain/sleet/snow/ice/wind, etc… The KU Campus is also one of the most beautiful places, especially in the spring and fall.
