Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
West Virginia University is a really good all-around school. They offer loads of different majors for undergrads to choose from. Although none of their academic departments are very highly rated, their not the lowest in the rankings either. Your basically guaranteed to get a good education no matter what major you chooose. As far as student life, there is always something to do. There are lots of groups and clubs to get involved in. The social scene is pretty good. There are a number of student bars in town and there are always frat parties going on. There are a few things to do on the weekends besides drinking and partying but not too many, so be aware of that if you are not into the partying scene. The University offers an Up All Night program on Thu., Fri., and Sat. nights, but in all honesty it isn't that great. The free food is basically cold nachos and celery sticks, and besides that there is really no reason to go, unless you want to stand in line for two hours in order to make a sand-filled jar.Sports at WVU are pretty big, well at least football is. And it's no problem getting a ticket if you are a student or otherwise. The bad thing about WVU is there are 2 campuses, and the only way to get from one to another if you don't have a car is the PRT. This is basically a one-car monorail that runs between the classes, and frequently breaks down (especially in the snow). So if the PRT is broken and you don't have a car a student is basically screwed and won't be able to get to class. Another bad point is the surronding town isn't much, and even then to get anywhere you really need a car, because the public transportation isn't all that great. Coming from another state West Virginia was also a little bit of a culture shock, some people adapt to it, but I didn't.
