I must admit, Binghamton U. was at the very bottom of my list of schools. But after languishing on several waiting lists for the Ivy Leaguers, I had no choice. I guess for the low tuition, Bing is a good university, but one can't help but feel that there is much to be desired. The town is a little depressing, the campus is ugly, and some professors are not very helpful. The student body also lacks school spirit, and is very apathetic for the most part. The overbearing cliquishness can be alienating sometimes. For example, I am from Upstate New York, which apparently is the epitome of un-coolness according to the hordes of Long Islanders and NYC natives, which make up most of the student body (so much for diversity).

For all the negatives though, there are some good things about Binghamton. It's good for the financially strapped, and it does have some really good programs, such as environmental science and nursing. However, I am thankful that I have a guaranteed transfer to Cornell next year, because Binghamton is really not the environment for me.
