Talking to friends over thanksgiving break, I realized that after coming to Williams, there's no other place I'd rather be.

The community is very open, warm, and caring. After being on campus for only about a semester, already, when I walk around on campus, I'll be greeted by a bunch of other studenst I've met in various ways (through classes, sports, out, etc.). It really makes me feel at home here.

Academics are definately challenging. Everyone here is really smart; there aren't enough "easy" courses for a person to survive if they can't handle (or don't do) the work. Seeing everyone else working so hard really serves as a great motivator. The work is tough, but the courses are really interesting and the professors are accessible and caring.

Socially, kids here are really accepting, not cliquish at all. As a frosh, its totally normal for me to hang out with seniors. Weekends here can be a blast, there are a bunch of sports games that lots of people go out to support and countless other events going on. ACE (all campus entertainment) sponsors all-campus parties every weekend and a bunch of the houses throw their own also.

The athletics here mirror the academics, they're unparalleled. Almost all the varsity teams here have winning records consistantly, year after year. There's an increadible comrodery on each of the teams that is really unique. There are also countless JV, club, and intramural teams that students really enjoy. The outing club sponsors a bunch of outdoor activities. Really, whatever your level of participation, Williams makes it easy to get involved.

The school really doesn't feel as isolated as many fear and the fantastic beauty of the campus, surrounded by the Berkshire mountains, is worth it. Many students (other than freshman) bring cars to campus and its easy to escape for an afternoon or weekend if you choose. The adjustment might be a little bit tougher for people coming from the heart of a big city, but its rare to find a student who would trade in a campus in an environment so beautiful to be in a large city.

Most sophmores, juniors, and seniors have singles, even a large amount of frosh do too. The freshman entry system is a special way that helps students get acclimated to college and helps them find a place in the Williams community right away.

Williams really sets the bar in so many ways. Yeah ephs!
