Good school if you're into the party-scene. Plenty of drinking etc. Not a school for people who are interested in really gainning a new perspective. All of northern Virginia is down here. Very right wing, republican, conservative, christian.

I'm from Northern Virginia (the real nova that is, and by that i mean the suburbs of DC like Fairfax, Loudon, and Prince William, not Warren or Spotsylvania Counties). Yes, I have heard how JMU can be exactly like Northern Virginia because so many people from this area go there. However, I just wanted to correct you and many people in saying that Northern Virginia is entirely right-wing conservatives. The truth is that most of Nothern Virginia is a Democrat, or at least a conservative democrat. Many people here consider themselves to be independents though. While the area is not entirely leaning towards the left or the right, it does tend to be Democrat, which would make sense considering its proximity to such a large city like DC.
So while JMU may be more conservative, that I do not know, it is not because of NORTHERN virginia. Perhaps it is because the state of virginia is a southern state, even though we Northern Virginians like to consider ourselves more of northerners. =)
