I also am majoring in Plan II, an interdisciplinary liberal arts program. There are very small classes available in Plan II—rarely more than 20 people—and it's great! This program practically gives a built-in group of friends, and all of them are absolutely fascinating to talk to. There are a few weasles, but that's to be expected. I must say that the good beats the crud out of the bad. Please consider majoring in Plan II! Once I was accepted, I didn't bother even applying to a list of Ivy League schools I was considering. The individual attention, calliber of students, and lower price tag make this program invaluable. However, be prepared to spend time explaining to the older generations what exactly Plan II is. It's a small program, so many people don't know much about it. However, once they look into it, most are very impressed. The lack of name recognition is the only issue I have against this major.

My advice to you is to sign up for the earliest orientation session possible. I got all of the classes I wanted because so many of them were Plan II, but a lot of other people I met didn't. Spanish goes quickly, and it's a five hour class, which I was not aware of.

And, girls, there are tons of fabulous looking guys out there. Check out the Olympic trials! Half of the 100 m free contenders were from UT!
