UCLA is a wonderful university. I absolutely loved my experience there, and the history department is fantastic! The Chair of the Department, Teo Ruiz is very personable, passionate, and a brilliant lecturer.

As for those who say that UCLA is too big to find a niche to call your own, these people are probably socially awkward. If you want to meet many people, smile and greet!
