I would not recommend the economics program at USF to anyone who hopes to find employment outside of the Tampa area or even employment in general. I know the University offers much better programs for individuals majoring in the natural sciences, pre-med, physical therapy, public health, etc. Genshaft sees to it that those areas receive massive amounts of funding, while nearly every other department on campus is severely lacking. As for the economics program it is a complete joke. The majority of the professors are pompous asses who look down upon their students and have little if any time to assist them. Be prepared to have nonconservative econ theory crammed down your throat.

Campus safety is horrible. Cars are broken into everyday and buildings are broken into regularly. Physical and sexual assaults have taken place on campus, but don't take my word for it students can access the weekly campus police report which is always several pages long. The surrounding area is located right in the middle of cracktown with numerous bums, criminals, and drug addicts. The campus itself has virtually no aesthetic value whatsoever with the exception of the new psychology and chemistry buildings.

Be prepared for the worst experience of your life when dealing with the bureaucracy of any of the administrative offices on campus (financial aid, registrars, advising). Most people who work in these areas are students w/ bad attitudes who couldn't care less about their job. Financial aid is by far the least competent of these areas.
