I transferred to FGCU as a Resort Management major. While the small class sizes and caring faculty are definately two of the school's main strengths, it has failed in almost every other area. The campus itself resembles a modern monochromatic prison, the humidity (if you are not accustomed to it) is wretched for athletes, any sense of school spirit is non-existant, and there is a definate lack of active student organizations. The city of Fort Myers itelf is very dissapointing as well, with no downtown area. Additionally, the school is twenty minutes southeast of the actual city in the middle of a swamp where alligators and panthers roam. On the bright side, it is extremely easy to get a job here, as there are not nearly enough people to fill positions in Fort Myers. Because of this, the residents here are mostly unfriendly, unhelpful, and sometimes rude. Nobody living in Fort Myers seems to actually like being here, which explains why people are constantly moving in and out of the area. Typical students here are fake-and-bake barbie dolls who posess below average intellegence and care only about drinking and finding thier next hook-up. Do not expect any type of class discussion, captivating or otherwise, for most students seem proud of themselves when they actually drag themselves out of bed to attend classes and care nothing for actually learning. Overall, most of the faculty are overqualified to teach the pathetic student body at this school. Don't come here unless your first priority is drinking and your last learning.
