Eckerd College

Eckerd is alot like a retirement community for young adults. The campus is surrounded on three sides by water, we have our own beach and boat house with free rentals. Ultimate frisbee games and BBQ's are a common site around campus. People go fishing, skiing, kayaking and swimming when bored. At night and on the weekends you can usually find some people up for partying but don't expect any massive partys (unless it's a friday or saturday). Classes can be challenging and people often get stuck at their desk typing untill 4am. But like any university you can get around it by selecting an easy major or a bunch of low level electives. I've found that most people just bullshit most of their work as often as they can then just cram like mad before exams. Doing this plus attending class will usually give you around a 3.0 gpa. The Marine science curriculum is amazing here but it's also insanely difficult. Although you do get to go out on boats and collect samples all the time you also have an immense amount of material to cover.

My freshman year the party scene at eckerd was pretty intense. Alot of drinking around Omega and smoking pot on the beach. The cops and paraamedics found there way over to eckerd quite a few times last year although the school trys not to advertise it. From what I hear this year (I'm currently studying abroad) the partying has died down alot.

The people at eckerd are extremely diverse and get along fairly well. The school is small and you do get to know people fairly intimately. EC Community is real big. Eckerd college kids are unique and often intersting. Although we all seemed to become lazy beach bums I still think that there is no certain type of kid that goes to eckerd.

There definately is a specific type of person that graduates Eckerd. This college molds you into typical eckerd kid. But be warned I say this as a generality, not all people her are cool. THe Baseball team for example is filled with major league assholes. Some of the kids from new England have also been known to be arrogant and cliquey.

From a guys perspective alot of the girls are shallow and fake (but sooooooo hot).

In my opinion the Kappa kids although dirty potheads are by and large the coolest kids on campus. They have the best partys, they're nice and they're always smiling.

The Administration and proffesors are great. They help you step by step and always can make time for you. Really the college trys to make everything as easy as they can. Getting a job on campus is easy and a great way to make spare cash. hmmm what else…

Well on the whole eckerd can be greatand if it is it's perfect but if you don't find that you like it or don't feel that you're fiting inn transfer quick because western heritage doesn't transfer anywhere.
