Major: Accounting (This Major's Salary over time)
Overall this whole experience hasn't been great. The professors aren't really that helpful and care more about their salaries than if their teaching methods are effective or not. I've been able to do fine just reading the book. In theory I'm supposed to be surrounded by other bright students who have come here to learn and broaden their horizons. Instead I'm surrounded by a lot of self absorbed kids who rather party and get wasted than care about their academic work. Campus life is alright if you like getting drunk and visiting the 4 ghetto bars around campus. Another thing about this school is the lack of safety on campus, and I'm not talking about isolated incidents at 2 in the morning. What I'm talking about is how kids are being mugged in broad daylight! In fact this past summer a student was randomly shot at by thugs in broad daylight. If you're planning to go here, be prepare to watch your back day or night! As for the housing, the dorms really are a disgrace for the money you are paying, they are run down, roach infested and many of them lack air conditioning. Another thing about the dorms is the heating, it doesn't gets turned on unless the school decides it's cold enough to run the heat so be prepared. If you're looking for a great college experience, avoid College Park at all costs and save your parent's or your hard earned money for somewhere else. If you're an in state student and low on funds (like me) so you don't really have another choice, feel free to give it a shot.
