Rutgers is a great school with a great nationwide reputation. Founded in 1766, it is the eighth oldest college in the United States, and is consistently ranked as one of the best public universities in the country. If you don't know what you want to major in, you should come here, as pretty much every program is nationally recognized. There's really nothing else like it in New Jersey. You'll have no trouble making friends, as the student body is great, and there's always tons of stuff to do. New Brunswick is a great college town and if that's not enough it's about an hour by train to New York or Philadelphia. Because it's a research university, the facutly is always extremely knowledgable of the subject they teach, usually because they are on the forfront of researching that subject. The only real complaint that I have is that as it is such a large school, you may not get personalized attention from your advisors. But they are still willing to help you, you just have to seek it out.
