I used to think that UTSA had a decent engineering program. Since I have transfered out to a different school I realized how much of a joke UTSA engineering really is. Not that it's easy, but the majority of the professors are horrible. Dr Yih for example is the head of the Mechanical engineering department, but he could'nt care less about his students. He missed class regularly, and many times it seemed like even he did'nt know the material he was teaching. If your thinking about going to school here, please take my advice and consider all your other options first. UTSA is just a big community college. I've also been told from different sources that UTSA graduated are often hired as technicians instead of engineers. Hopefully your reading this in time to apply to schools that are actually respected in the working industry. 9 out of 10 times companies are going to hire the person from schools like UT, A&M and Texas Tech over UTSA. And that's just comparing schools in Texas. Do your research and you'll find that UTSA is among the worst when rated in Academics. The good things about UTSA is that it is a smaller campus, it's easy to get into, and there are a few professors out there that care(but very few)
