Honestly, I like the PO department, and I like a lot of the people I'm around. For the most part, they're helpful. However, it's VERY cliquish at BU, and if you're not in the group, you're made to feel very isolated. Furthermore, while I admire FitRec and StuV and whatnot, the fact remains that the brownstones on South (where I've lived all 4 years here) and buildings like CAS are in total disrepair. I'm surprised they pass health codes! As for the PO department, it is getting better from when I first entered. However, a lot of the tenured professors I've had (Cathy Jo Martin and Betty Zisk, in particular), while certainly qualified, care little about the students they teach. On the other hand, the department seems to find single-year professors each year (like Dr. Tim Howard) who really know how to teach to us and get us involved and interested. It's just a shame they can't keep them here.
