Engineering at Texas A&M is truly top-notch. Ask people who actually employ engineers. A&M's engineering school prepares students for real jobs, not just how to know a lot of stuff. I did not apply to MIT (only A&M), but honestly I think that if I had, I would have been accepted—and then I would be very unhappy there. Plus A&M is relatively cheap and passes out scholarships like candy to good students.

My sister is a first-year at MIT. She REALLY REALLY loves it. She found a group of friends at a Baptist Brunch before she even began attending there, and she says the faculty is awsome. She says people there never get bored, they can always think of something to do, like building giant tetris sets on the side of rollercoasters, or projecting movies on top of buildings.
