I came to Case by accident, but did not necessarily regret the decision when I arrived on campus freshman year. I am currently in my sophomere year here, and I have very mixed feelings about the University. It tries very hard to keep you happy your freshman year, but generally ignores you by the time sophomore year rolls around. You have to look very, very hard in the surrounding city to find something that is both safe and fun. If you enjoy drowning your sorrows in alcohol every weekend, Case will be just fine for you. If you really like LAN parties, I'm sure Case will suit you, also. If you're a balanced, normal person who barely drinks and only occasionally will attend a LAN party, Case will probably break your spirit and crush what little hope you may have had. The academic programs are pretty strong, if occasionally overbearing. The workload is high, the social atmosphere is sub-par, and the surrounding city will make you want to carry a handgun. Honestly, Case isn't a bad school if you're very driven. If you don't have the crazy, "I'm going to save the world!" or "I WILL SUCCEED AT ALL COSTS!" attitudes, you'll probably end up transferring to a school that doesn't make you want to kill yourself. Learn to love liquor.
