This is the least organized school setting I have ever been in. They lose EVERYTHING and not just my stuff, everyone I know has had some sort of hold put on their account or some sort of academic advisement mix-up that is mostly the product of a poorly organized system. I went to public schools for all of high school and I would have thought that a school that could take so much money from you would be at least as organized as free education. Not at all.

Let's talk about the new website design? The old website was a disgrace. A design school with a shitty website is bad, but a design school that upgrades their website to the exact same format as the Yale art department website? That's ridiculous. You can't even navigate the damn thing. I was trying to figure out something about study abroad- nothing. I can't even figure out who the top faculty members are other than the President. And it's not in the Pratt Student Handbook either.

If you want to figure out what department deals with something, you will spend a looooong time running around in circles before either giving up or finding out it doesn't exist or that no one cares. Usually all three.

I spend as much time dealing with financial aid and the bursar's office every week as I do on homework assignments.

If you are in financial need, DO NOT attend this school. They will suck you dry and then ask for more. They screwed up my health insurance and didn't charge me last semester and then charged me double this semester but offered my no aid. I have a little over a thousand dollars in debt to them now (which I have to say isn't an unusual occurance). And I'm trying to transfer out of this hell-hole and they won't send my transcripts until this debt is taken care of. I have spent more of my energy crying and freaking out over the constant battles I have with financial aid and the stupid mixups that they create and are completely useless in solving than I can explain. And it's not just me. I know far too many people who are in similar situations.

The student body sucks. Because of the high acceptance rate the freshman class is overcrowded this year and you wouldn't believe how stupid some of the kids are. I am baffled on a daily basis by the number of retarded questions and statements that come out of these kids' mouths. I feel like I'm going to school with kids who shouldn't have graduated high school. I understand that some people excel in artistic areas more than academic areas in art school, but the kids in my English class didn't even know what a thesis statement was. How do you get through high school English without knowing what a thesis statement is?

I think art school could potentially be great, and I think that the teachers here are wonderful. But the professors are about the only good thing about this school.

So if you have a lot of money to spend, and don't mind dropping an extra thousand or so when the school screws up, and you're not too bright, and you don't mind when academic advisement screws up and you end up a second or third year senior… this is probably your art school. Actually, I think they have an application online, it's probably the easiest thing to get to on the impossible to navigate website.

You couldn't pay me to stay here any longer. Please, please, please reconsider this school. Go to Parsons or RISD or MICA. Or even SVA. But I'm transfering to another school as soon as possible.
