This is mostly a positive comment, I am an adult graduate student at CCSU, I work full time and have been attending classes at night for the last year. I am not treated like a 3rd or 4th class citizen just because I am part time and not very wealthy. This is a good thing. I have found the CCSU teaching staff, at least in my dicipline, to be much more helpful and committed to their students and teaching then at other schools (namely my undergraduate school).

I have also found the educational content of the classes I have taken and the approach of the professors to be extreamly positive and helpful to me in my learnign process. In fact I have found this so much to be the case that it has surprised me.

This is not to say everything is perfect. You need to realize this is a public university and while it is listed as more selective on several rating scales its really the luck of the draw on what you will end up with as fellow students in the graduate classes you take. Students of all sorts of ability are meshed together. While many are working adults or full time adults some are kids that are simply finishing their masters right after their 4 year degree.

This school is also used by many CT companies local to central (or close by) as a place they send employees they wish to train. This is good and bad, mostly bad because you end up with a core group of students from a compnay that do not work well with people not from their company. They help eachother on projects and ignore everyone else. it's an extension of their work day.

I have found that most of the students I have encountered are snooty and rude, even the ones close to my age. my experience is with graduate students so I have no clue how it would be for undergrad. Comparing to other schools I have taken classes at the students are about the same. People just tend to be unfriendly in the North East I think (and I grew up in CT, I just don't think I am as unfriendly as most).

My advice: If your a perspective graduate student looking for a technology related masters of some kind, this is the place for you if you work full time and don't want to spend $40,000+ on a masters degree but still want a quality experience. At around $1250 a class I will finish my masters for just under $15,000. This price cannot be beat and the school is considered somewhat selective. I believe the quality of education here is on par with Sacred Heart University, Farifield, or New Haven University and others.

Biggest Plus: Great Education & Affordable price.

Biggest Minus: Unfriendly students in graduate classes.
