If you are not from the Louisville area, I would not waste my time here. Most of the students are snooty and unapproachable. Many of them went to middle and high school together and are really not interested in making new friends. The coursework really is not that challenging, though it is possible to stumble upon ythe ocassional difficult course and/or professor. The campus is unattractive and poorly maintained. I spent two years in the dorms and it took physical plant personnel six months to fix leaking urinals and clogged toilets in the bathrooms. The parking situation is horrible, which is particularly unfortunate since most of the students are commuters. Most parking is off campus and you have to rely on the unreliable university shuttles to get to classes. As mentioned in previous reviews, most money goes to athletics, and the Greek organizations indeed dominate social activities. While there are ways to get involved, many are poorly advertised. No one really knows what's going on. The faculty is hit or miss and getting the classes you need can be a bit difficult. Campus is completely dead on weekends. In terms of safety, it doesn't exist here. I was accosted by a drug addict in the middle of the day and no one, not even people who knew me, came to my aid. The campus police force seems to exist solely to drive around sporadically; I can't say they actually patrol. Also, the city is unfriendly and has something of an arrogant, pretentious attitude. Maybe this is because I'm from Lexington (ya know where UK, U of L's big rival is located) or maybe the people here are just full of themselves. I just can't tell. Though, the university gives out scholarships like candy and some of the professors and departments are okay, if I had to do this again, I would have gone somwehere else. I strongly encourage anyone who is considering enrolling at this university to do the same.BTW, I went here only because I had to. My dad pretty much forced me into it since both he and my mom graduated from U of L. Even though I was accepted at both Cornell and Tulane, I had parental pressure working against me and U of L offered me the best scholarship. I made a mistake going here.
