This review was so awesome because of its frankness and the words used. I am really bothered by the same attitudes—that most sheltered people have a really hard time understanding. My sister went to a similar school and said she turned militant as a result, because if she didn't there wouldn't have been much of a place for her, other than being really white-washed. This type of environment seems to miserable, so I won't be applying here! |
The writer of this review is an idiot, and a bigot. |
Well my brother is an alumn of this school and i spent many springs breaks there. The people are somewhat friendly, BUT i would have to agree with a majority of wha the says. I am a Yeoman at Oberlin and it is TONS better. but EDU…. WILLIAMS is ranked the top liberal arts school in the nation so idk whats up with that B |
As a current student here, I feel that this review is blatantly wrong. There is lots of interaction among students of all races, cultures, and backgrounds. This stereotype of minorities is mean and doesn't match reality on campus. Furthermore, as a white kid (who didn't go to prep school or come from New England), I have learned a lot here from my peers outside of the classroom. My cultural awareness has been positively changed for the better. This review is not representative of the attitudes of almost all students at Williams. |
This reviewer seems to have confused attending college with attending a race-pride indoctrination camp. It would be nice if the review commented on the classroom experience and other "minor" details. |
Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
Be prepared, this is a very white-washed New England kind of school (duh). If boring, pasty Caucasian New England prep school types (who only marry each other and live in dead-end New England towns and small cities) are the kind of people you want to surround yourself with, this is the place to be. You get a very limited variety of people to interact with and, thus, your cultural appreciation for things different from yourself is also stunted severely. Most of the minorities who come here fall into two categories: the kind who become (or already were) hardcore minority-centric (and blatantly refuse to talk to the White crowd) or the kind who consciously white-wash themselves and are ashamed of their minority status and went to Williams so they could feel as White as possible. Unfortunately, when you look at the student body here, you realize that this school only pays lip service to diversity and, thus, provides all of its students with a handicapped education. Don't go here expecting to learn very much outside the classroom (or outside of hiking in the mountains).
