it's tough to know what so say about st. olaf. on the one hand, there's a lot of positives: most of the students are pretty nice and down-to-earth, the professors are generally good and the class sizes small, the education is overall good if challenging.

but it really isn't like college, or at least what i imagined college would be like. like the other guy said, more like high school pt. 2. very, very cliquey. between the 10,000 different music groups and a similar number of sports teams, you have a membership that's probably around 80% of the student body. everybody does something, and usually a person's friends are composed exclusively of the people from whatever choir/orchestra/team they happen to be a member of. a lot of divide too between the music and sports kids; they generally dislike each other (for some reason a lot of people hate the football players especially, although most of them seem alright to me) and there is almost no crossover. and unfortunately there's basically nothing else to do because northfield is a very small town in the middle of nowhere (30 minutes south of the twin cities).

so, i don't know. honestly, if i'd known what st. olaf was like i probably wouldn't have come here, but that doesn't mean it's bad. it's for a certain type of person though. i guess what i'd say is if you think you'd like it, you probably will, but otherwise you might be better off going somewhere else.
