Date: Jan 31 2008 Major: Meteorology (This Major's Salary over time) For meteorology, Florida State University is an excellent choice. The meteorology department has a long tradition and history of excellence, producing graduates for research and operations. Two directors of the National Hurricane Center have degrees from FSU, along with numerous Meteorologists-in-Charge in the National Weather Service and on-camera meteorologists for The Weather Channel and many television stations. Some of the NWS top modelers at the National Centers for Environmental Prediction are FSU grads. For tropical meteorology, FSU is unsurpassed. The undergrad major in meteorology requires a strong math and physics background, so high school applicants should take all the math and science they can, plus English and geography courses. Spanish is a BIG help for communicating through two "windows" into our changing population. For meteorology, strongly consider FSU!!
