We went to "picnic day" to visit the campus, as I decide where to go to college. Davis seems a little out of touch. I think I will stick to a UC campus nearer to the coast and stay away from the overly conservative ag values.

Overly conservative?! Are you nuts?! We've got more hippies than any school other than Santa Cruz! Ag values make us more grounded and level-headed, not conservative.
Try coming back when it's NOT Picnic Day, and you'll get a much better idea of UCD's student body.

I'm sorry but did you get lost on 80 and exit to early in Dixon? UC Davis is one of the more progressive campuses in the country. It's less extreme than say Berkeley and happens to be a lot cleaner.

Overly conservative Ag values? You're kidding right?

The difference between Davis and our super-liberal counterpart, Berkeley, is that we're actually accepting of those who don't share our specific political views and don't expect everyone on campus to worship left-wing agenda.

Picnic Day, however, is a time where the surrounding community and visitors from all over the state come to see the great research and programs UCD has to offer. You may have confused this for conservativeness, as it does rub off as a close-knit town that could potentially have conservative values.
However, this is entirely not the case.
