Major: Accounting (This Major's Salary over time)
I came to JMU to study accounting and was disappointed to find that I had to first take a long series of general education courses that had little academic value but cost time and money. I am going into my second year this fall and I am questioning whether or not to transfer to focus on my core major - accounting. The accounting program also has limited co-op/internship slots available and will require that I spend a semester away from JMU to complete it. Otherwise its okay - the campus is nice (bluestone area) other parts are ok. There are a lot of parties - but mostly the social life is focused on people getting hammered and running around. Football is fun - basketball is not - they always lose (except the women's program). If you are coming to college to socialize - JMU is great - if a little pricey for what you get. If you want to focus on studying and achieving your career objectives - you might want to look elsewhere.
