There are definitely pros about UM, and there are DEFINITELY cons.

First the cons:

The stereotype of this being a rich-kids playground (PLAY is the key word) is overwhelmingly true! You walk on campus and you can just spot them. Everywhere. Like trees. Except way more pricey.

PRICE OF SCHOOL is way too much. I would have rather have gone to a public school with as a good of a music program and paid half as much.

Boring on the weekends. If you don't party (much,) then it's boring. I do party sometimes, but only intimately with friends and not at frat houses (ick don't even attempt.)

Weather. Point blank: it rains way more than the nickname of this state allows you to believe!

Attendance Policy. VERY VERY VERY VERY rigid. My classes are insane with attendance. Some of which fail you if you miss more than two.

PROS:

Quality of education. The classes are wonderful here. They're way more demanding though than you would assume from such a rich kids paradise! That's why a lot of them fail out haha. So, don't take it lightly. it's not hard to get in here for nothing!

Music program is fantastic! Very focused and if you don't want to be uber-focused you can always get a BA.

Study abroad is great here!

Temperature-wise, the weather is beautiful!

The Metro is within walking distance, though I'd advise NOT using it. It's rather sketchy. BUt hey, if you don't have a car, you can always use it! And take it up to like 10 stops from here to the tri-rail station to go all the way up past west palm beach (the tri rail is not the metro though.)

It's Miami. Though the U is not in the city, it's very close and the city is very nice! Not as nice as I originally thought, but the beaches are unbelievably beautiful.
