okay, so clark isn't for everyone and most incoming students recognize this. ultimately, i feel that this is one of the reasons a lot of us applied. to put it simply, i feel most students come here because they want a liberal, open, accepting environment. the school definitely is liberal so if that is what you are looking for, look no further. conservatives are looked at with curiosity but most students are friendly and cordial toward them (though there really aren't many of them). unlike a lot of northeast liberal arts school, the students are relatively chill and not pretentious or unwelcoming. i honestly feel that most students are friendly and although some students might seem unapproachable, it's probably because they're socially awkward or enjoy their little solitude. also, there are some athletes but they're not your typical jock stereoype, most are very friendly.

the professors at clark are very impressive. i found my government teacher to be very inspiring, approachable and flexible. i had one teacher who basically had us do readings and we'd cover them in class but i didn't go into college expecting to have my hand held. the academics are hard but nothing impossible and yes, you will be writing lots of papers.

the social life at clark is pretty good for a school its size. there are definitely parties on the weekends if that is your thing and most of them are welcoming but not all. i've never beeng given a hard time but i have heard stories of freshman being yelled at. pot is rampant (i feel like everyone smokes) and there are some harder drugs out there but you're not going to go to a party and see people doing lines of coke. in addition, if booze or drugs isn't your thing, there are plenty of things to do on campus. really, i was kind of surprised with how many activities they offered. i feel like the school does this because worcester really doesn't have much to offer. people that defend worcester are honestly be optimistic, the city is scary and some of the townies are unwelcoming. fortunately, the school offers a van that drives students off-campus but sometimes its slow and inaccessible. people tell you to have street smarts but students have been attacked even if they're not alone. simply, don't walk off campus alone at night. worcester as a whole isn't that bad but clark is in the worst part of the town and unless you take the bus, there are only some restaurants and markets are your disposal (and these are far from impressive).

clark isn't a horrible school but some of these comments do make a point, it's probably not worth the pricetag. the classes are intimate and enlightening and the students are really amazing but unless you get scholarships or have enough money to not take out loans, i wouldn't recommend this school. the school is becoming more competitive but i honestly don't understand why the acceptance rate is 56%. ultimately, i would recommend this school to a wealthy, very liberal and chill individual who has a very open-mind about the school's location.
