Major: Industrial Design (This Major's Salary over time)
Ill start with the major negs. One big drawback is that there are lots and lots of dudes.the 60/40 ratio of guys girls is compounded by the number of students(roughly 48,000). Many of the guys I talk to notice a sort of social complex that the chicks here develop. It feels like girls who normally would be well within reach of some guys act like they are the bees knees when in real life they would def be in that guys league. on the other hand there are definitely some hotties so I don't know why purdue gets such a bad rep for girls. If you are a chick just look at the ratio and do the math. I am sure you'll find a great guy in no time. Purdue is great for many degrees. Engineering is a top program for a reason at purdue. I have a lot of engineering friends and they have a lot of work. Social life is ok. Compared to a "party school" like iowa or iu purdue doesn't even cut it, unless you go greek. I am greek and I do not think social life would be anything close to what it is without it. Purdue is getting rediculous with its alcohol policy and was one of the few big ten schools to disagree with lowering drinking age to eighteen this year. Apartment parties are lame. I have never gone to anything but an average party at one and most of the time they are all dudes. You will never see a party train of twenty people going somewhere on the weekends save for big game days. I am in industrial design and the course work takes at least twenty to thirty hours per week for my two core classes. I have at least three other classes to worry about as well so time management is a big deal for me as well as everyone else I talk to in my major. All nighters are a way of life so get ready if you plan to go into this major. However, I have friends in the Krannert school of management which is a highly respected and nationally ranked program who have plenty of time to play xbox or whatever during week days. So do what you love and trust that purdue will offer a great experience, a big school experience, no matter what you choose.
