I have to say, after 3 years of attending UNH, I am impressed. Like any young school, there is a lot of work to be done to make sure that the University will last over time, but that is to be expected. There is construction all the time adding facilities that the students can use to their advantage.

The faculty here are great. No one should expect to have amazing teachers in every class, but when you do get them, stick with them. The range of courses offered here at UNH help me make sure I never have a dull schedule. The students here, for the most part, are fantastic. It's usually the younger crowd that still has attitude problems; they're fresh out of high school and still think the world revolves around them. Upperclassmen are where you'll find the true intellectuals. They are thinking about jobs and a life after college, stupid cliques and snobby attitudes are the last thing on their minds.

As for things to do on campus, there isn't any lack of options. Most of the major committees deciding what's best for students are RUN by STUDENTS. Weekend trips to NYC, Six Flags, or the latest comedy tour are in abundance. The key is to get involved. You're one step closer to the real world, the fun isn't going to come to you! I hear people complaining all the time that the parties at this school are dull. Excuse me, but I do not pay 40 grand a year to waste away on alcohol and bad decisions. I come here to learn. Sure, the price tag may be up there, but UNH is still young. At the rate it's going, its prestige will soon match its price.

As for change, people think they have to appeal to the higher-ups to get what they want. They forget that students outnumber faculty 30 to 1! I have NEVER come across a situation where, when students banded together, a change did not occur.

Parking seems to be a huge issue, though I don't know why. In my opinion, those who have parking are lucky we started out as a tiny school. Do you think larger universities have parking right outside their classrooms? We are trying to develop ourselves in that direction, parking will be moved further and further away from campus. I find it silly that, a few years ago, students complained that the school was too concentrated with commuters. Now, all they want is cars all over campus. Although students can work together to make productive change, the most important thing to understand is that the university cannot always act on the whims of the students. Times change too much for that.

Overall, UNH is top notch for those who know how to approach the college experience. If you actually sat down and crunched the numbers, you'd realize you're getting a lot more out of the school than you're putting in.
